Working OUT - Pilates and Ballet Fusion

So I discovered this new work out tonight - well actually two work outs.
The first is called ballet and pilates fusion.. the work out itself is really low impact but do NOT let it fool you, it DOES work.
I did a five minute set.. broke a little sweat and decided I could keep going so I also found Bollywood, Dancing with Hemalayaa. This was a six minute set.
Afterwards.. WOW my legs are so sore and my butt could not feel any tighter.
The ballet and pilates are for people who are more into slower routines and the Bollywood is more fast paced.
I am going to keep doing these two routines for a month and see if my extra ten pounds comes off or not.

I looked in the mirror this morning at 6:00 to put in my contacts. While I was doing this I noticed something horrific. FINE LINES under my eyes!!! And they are pretty bad.. they look like they are trying to do more damage which is NOT going to happen with me. I also noticed I have a deep line in my forehead.
Now, I attribute these lovely lines to spending hours in the sun as a kid with no sunblock, smoking, and then being in the Arizona summer and not wearing SUNBLOCK.
Now my skin is ruined, collectively. Unless I just so happen to stumble onto some rich sugar daddy, Im going to have to start looking for some creams.
So after this terrible experience I got on the computer and typed in 'how to fix fine lines around eyes'.
Ok a bunch of bull came up.. people who have blogs and wrote about 3 sentences about fine lines.

Well not the case with me. I'm doing my research and writing up a report.
SO FAR it seems like everyone is betting their money on natural products because they are more easily absorbed than harsh chemicals. I've seen a product recommended called Eye Cream with Cucumber and Wool Keratin Cynergy TK. Now it is 7.95 at Amazon.com so I am a little iffy about using it because aren't all beauty creams at least 20.00?
I'm going to do a little more digging and see what I come up with before I buy anything.

Ok so at Prevention.com what they recommend are products which are all over 50.00.
That's half of my electric bill!!
They say: Try: Freeze 24-7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum ($105; www.freeze247.com) or Derma?doctor Immobile Lines ($85; www.dermadoctor.com).
These do not penetrate as far as botox BUT in a University of Valencia, Spain, study, researchers found that the depth of participants' eye wrinkles decreased by 30% after 1 month of using eye cream.
Not bad, not bad at all.

But after going through tons of ads for eye creams that were probably just mineral oil I decided to go to the head honcho for some help. Allure magazine.
Well readers choice award says Olay Regenerist, daily regenerating serum and eye lifting serum. This is probably 20.00.

I see another product by Olay that is just for eyes. Regenerist Eye Derma-Pod Anti-Aging Triple Response System.. for 25.00. It comes with twenty-four applications though. So the product REALLY pays for itself.

Number ONE goes to Chanel Glossimer
This stuff is awesome.. it goes on smooth and lasts through a few drinks. It also comes in 28 colors woohoo! But it's also 28.00. Pretty pricey.
The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it's pretty sticky.

Number TWO goes to Tarte Double Dose in Acai Boost and Acerola Rush for 21 bucks.
YUMMY stuff and has vitamin C which is always great.

Number THREE goes to XL volume Seduction lipgloss. This stuff plumps up my lips for a good thirty minutes. Very pretty colors too. 8.00 at Wal-mart!

Stretch Marks

Almost every single woman in America has stretch marks.. sad but true..
Anyway, I was watching this video that said if you use gradual self tanner it can help to hide the stretch marks.
They also warned against using a tanning bed to help them blend because stretch marks do not tan.

Oily Skin And Your Make Up

Oily skin is the worst. I know because my skin goes through phases, oily in summer and dry in winter. There are things you can do to minimize your oil and keep the base on your face and not on your clothes.

First you need to work on shrinking your pores and minimizing oil and shine.
Start with a pore scrub with salycilic acid.. Biore or St. Ives Apricot Scrub for blemishes.
Then you need to apply a toner, this is a must! Toner helps by eating up the oil and shrinking the pores.
Next is the base.. Loreal True Match is awesome but there are others that work even better. Luminescence by Lancome is perfect.
AVOID ingredients such as bismuth oxychloride and dimenthicone. Both can clog pores and may cause blemishes.
Throughout the day you can use oil blotting papers which are about 5.00 by Biore and Clearasil.
DO NOT touch your face with your hands. Your hands have bacteria and oil that go right into your pores and clog them up.
You should buy make up that clearly states it is non-comodegenic which means it does not clog pores. If it does not say this then it WILL clog your pores and create more oil

A cause of oily skin CAN be overwashing. If you wash your face three times a day or more your skin acts by overcompensating and producing MORE oil. Wash once in the morning and once at night for best results.

To Pluck Or Not To Pluck

I plucked my eyebrows when I didn't have kids.. I have since fallen off the wagon. It hurts and I don't ever have time.
Well I've recently became interested again once I really looked in the mirror. Wow my eyebrows look terrible!
So I have some tips to make your eyebrow adventure easier.

First wash your face with warm water and a gentle cleanser.
Next you can apply anbesol to your eyebrows to help with the pain or if you are iffy about that you can use a little ice and take an asprin or ibuprofen
Have a good pair of tweezers handy to make the job easier
Your arch should start in the middle of your iris so start there and pluck in the direction that your hair grows
DO NOT overpluck, take a step back every few hairs and make sure you are plucking evenly
Remember to pluck around the natural shap of your brows so you don't look like you penciled on your eyebrows
If there is redness when you are done you can apply a cool compress or a frozen cucumber slice to reduce it.

Preventative maintenance is very important when it comes to your skin. By dealing with things like fine lines and age spots right now can save you a lot of trouble down the road twenty years.
By doing things like using sunscreen everyday, using the proper face and eye cream you are setting good skin habits for yourself and keeping your skin young.

Some bad habits women have for their skin are smoking, not using sunscreen and using things like regular soap and alcohol based cleansers.
I smoke but I am trying to quit because my skin has gotten dull and rough looking.
I've also seen an increase in fine lines around my eyes which I will not tolerate.
Using regular body soap leaves a residue on your skin which can be dulling to your appearance. Use something that exfoliates or is alpha hydroxy based.

You should also stay as hydrated as humanly possible.
What's more, the skin doesn't retain as much moisture as it once did. Cells leak moisture when the glue that holds cell membranes together begins to degenerate. Sweat and oil glands also produce less moisture. Facial bones become less dense and fat deposits under the skin shrink, causing the skin to lose elasticity. And, as women enter their late 40s and 50s, the decrease in the hormone estrogen makes skin thinner, because it is no longer able to hold as much water.
You should also try and sleep as much as you can to reduce puffiness and bags under your eyes.

Another surprising skin damager is alcohol which can do a number on your complexion because it dialating the small blood vessels under your skin and over time causes redness.
All of these problems can be reversed for the right amount of money but why pay for that when you can start the process of helping your skin age gracefully right now?

Exfoliation and Hydration

SO the topic is exfoliation and hydration. You need to know you have to exfoliate your skin for it to be smooth, even and pretty. We all want soft skin. I know of some products that can make it happen and how to get to that point.
BEST Product For Exfoliation

You can also go the homemade route.. which I have done and it may not work as well as store bought products they have generally the same effect.
To make the scrub you need:

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup of baby oil or extra virgin olive oil
Any essential oils you would like to add, rose always smells good.
1/4 cup of milk

Mix these together and hop in the shower or tub and start scrubbin!

Follow up with a really good lotion such as Jergens gradual tanning lotion or Aveeno.

Try and stick to the more expensive lotions.. nothing under 5.00 or else you are wasting your money. Tried and true.

After about a week of moisturizing as soon as you dry off from the tub you should start seeing results.

Another tip is to wait to shave until you are almost done with your shower so your hair follicles are more open and the hair is softened up. Always use shave gel and a good razor or you will risk getting nasty, red razor bumps.

Also, to keep your skin pretty and glowing you should drink plenty of water and take fish oil supplements.

Hair Care Part One

So the term beauty is skin deep is pretty true.. although an ambiguous statement at best.
I am not a professional nor do I claim to be.
I am just sharing my favorite tips.
So now that that's settled let's start!

Blow drying VS Air Drying
Air drying is recommended if you have curly or wavy hair because hair of this type can become frizzy and unmanageable quickly.
I myself have wavy hair and I rarely use a blow dyer because of all the damage it can cause.
It can make hair dry and brittle if not done correctly.

You should wait until hair is about 75% dry before you blow dry
Always hold the blow dryer about half an arms length away from your hair (too close burns hair)
Blow dry in the direction that your hair grows to keep frizzies away
Always use a heat protectant before you blow dry to create a barrier for your hair
Use the lowest heat setting on your blow dryer to minimize split ends and damage

Now, washing your hair is a separate story. You should do your homework and read reviews before you purchase a shampoo. Here are some tips for shampooing and conditioning for optimum shine.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Pick a shampoo and conditioner that is right for your hair. If your hair is wavy and you want to bring out the waves then purchase a wave enhancing shampoo and conditioner set. If you want straight hair then buy the straight set.
Something a lot of people do not know is that you can purchase a relatively cheap shampoo and follow with a really good conitioner. The reason for this is that the cheap shampoo dries the hair out and then the expensive conditioner repairs and corrects the shaft bringing out softness and shine.
Try to use a set that has natural ingredients such as Biolage. In my experience Biolage is the leader for softness and shine. It also has a great smell.
Use more shampoo on the top of your head than on the ends. The reason for this is your hair has more oil the closer it is to your scalp. When you use a lot of shampoo on the ends of your hair you can dry them out and cause spilt ends and breakage.
A quarter size amount of shampoo should be sufficient for most hair unless your hair is past the middle of your back.
Apply conditioner mainly to the ends of your hair. Think of putting your hair in a low pony-tail and then apply there. You can use a very small amount on top to keep frizz from coming.
Wash hair with warm water to open the hair shaft and rinse with cool water to close it and bring out your shine!
Once you have washed your hair DO NOT twist it up in a towel. I know this is something a lot of women do but it damages your hair and causes breakage and weak spots. Instead, blot the wetness out with a towel.
After you towel dry your hair spray on a leave in conditioner. This does not have to be expensive. I use Equate brand and it works just fine. This weighs the frizz down a bit and enables you to brush your hair without breakage.
